In a letter to Severstal North America, three Ohio lawmakers are asking that their Ohio steel plants return to active production or be sold to someone who will utilize them.

State Representative John Domenick, Rep. Tom Letson of Warren, and St. Senator Jason Wilson of Columbiana say they recognize the impact of the current economic conditions on the steel industry, but also wish to see production resume at the Ohio plants.

Severstal facilities are currently idle in Mingo Junction, Martins Ferry, Yorkville and Warren. The company has given no public indication when they might be restarted.

How clever of our elected officals! Just put a steel company back into operation because THEY said so. Duh?! Don't they think that if they could, they would or as most businesses want a good bottom line, would sell them IF they could get a buyer. It once again shows how totally out-of-touch politicians are when it comes to business-ANY business. Maybe they missed the memo about a recession bordering on DEPRESSION that has been going on in the U.S. for several yrs. now, most especially in the "Rust Belt" States. Gutless wonders? Wilson wouldn't even HAVE a Town Hall Meeting in person. He'd seen, by then, that it wasn't going to be "business-as-usual." And the usual BS verbage so "slickly" delivered just wasn't going to get it this time. The ONLY power the average person has is the ballot box. And no, our leglislators aren't "just fine", but the other district's is the problem; THEY ALL ARE THE PROBLEM. They only fear one thing: getting voted out of office. Are we disgusted enough now to finally do that? I am!
