Mathews School Board members decided Wednesday night where the 200 students of Neal Middle School will be going after the school closes at the end of this year.
The 6th graders will be sent to Baker Elementary. The 7th and 8th graders will be housed in trailers at the high school.
Neal is being closed because its roof, boiler system, and septic system are in disrepair.
"We feel that we can save a great deal of money in the operation of that building to put some other modular units or a permanent structure here at the high school," said Superintendent Lee Seiple.
In the coming weeks, the school board will be discussing the septic system issues, busing, and staffing.
