The Mahoning County commissioners continue to struggle with next year's budget.
Monday, the auditor and data processing departments submitted their 2010 funding requests. Both departments asked for less money next year than they had this year, though the cuts are not expected to offset other requests.
"Unfortunately, many departments have made minimal, if any, cuts," said Mahoning County Administrator George Tablack. "In some cases, they've spent more than last year. So, if people thought 2009 was a difficult year in Mahoning County's general fund budget, hold on to your seats, because 2010 will be even more difficult."
It's estimated that Mahoning County will have $9 million dollar less to spend next year than it did in 2008.
