The owner of a local business is looking toward a brighter future thanks to some new technology.

NanoLogix of Hubbard makes diagnostic testing equipment similar to petri dishes, only these kits can dramatically speed up the process of detecting certain types of bacteria such as tuberculosis, strep and salmonella, meaning patients can ultimately be diagnosed that much faster.

"Being able to treat patients quickly with specific antibiotic that's designed to kill that bacteria, instead of treating them with a broad spectrum antibiotic, while you're waiting on results can end up reducing or potentially reversing the potential for the development of antibiotic resistance," said Bret Barnhizer, of NanoLogix.

Recently, the new technology won a positive review as part of a study at the University of Texas.

Barnhizer said as further reviews are released, he expects more health care businesses will opt for these newer test kits,  meaning increased production for his company.
