Liberty police Tuesday identified the two victims shot in their home late Sunday as Wilneice Green, 28, and her daughter, Ja-Brajasia Green, 13.

The shooting was reported just before midnight by Wilneice's 12-year-old son, who said he was sleeping when it occurred. The boy told the 911 dispatcher Ja-brajasia had been shot in the stomach and Wilneice in the side.

The caller said he did not know who the shooter was, and said the suspect had fled the 3022 Northgate Drive home by the time police were called.

Monday, neighbors said Ja-brajasia had two brothers and two sisters and that the family had only lived in the duplex about two months. Ja-brajasia was a student at W.S. Guy Middle School.

Police have not named a suspect. However, they continue to interview people trying to tie all the pieces together.

This is the first homicide case in the township in over a decade. Township Administrator and former Youngstown Mayor Pat Ungaro said it has shocked the community of about 14,000 residents.

“It’s not a normal occurance,” Ungaro said. “As a mayor, I was very frustrated to go through those experiences.”

Ungaro said he is optimistic that police will solve this case.
