For the last several months, 81 year old Betty Juillerat of Hubbard Township couldn't figure out why her bank statements were not balancing. "I was shocked. I didn't understand why my checking account was never right and told them I should have more money than I do," Juillerat said.
She finally sat down with her granddaughter Gina Goodyear and they figured out that for at least the last six months a company called TLG Great FN has been taking $14 to $15 from her bank account, sometimes twice a month. Juillerat says she never approved the purchases, so her granddaughter called the company. She says a customer service representative wasn't helpful. "No, they weren't really interested in talking about a refund," Goodyear said.
Juillerat filed a report with Hubbard Township. A detective there tells us that Juillerat is not the only one unhappy with the company. "I did a quick internet search and found hundreds of complaints, 96 pages of complaints, filed throughout the country," said Detective Mike Begeot. A customer service manager we got on the phone disagrees, saying they have millions of members and the complaints are a small percentage.
A company spokesman says they do their best to make sure everyone who signs up for their program knows they are doing so. The company offers many programs including identity fraud protection and online shopping.
Begeot says people need to make sure they go over their bank statements monthly to make sure they are not getting any surprise charges. If you do notice something on your bank statement that doesn't look right, notify the bank and police right away.
