An abandoned building in Campbell was set to be torn down soon, but it looks like someone beat the city to it.

The 123 Gordon Street home went up in flames Thursday night. Crews from Campbell and Coitsville were called in to put out the fire. Firefighters said the roof and second floor of the building had already collapsed into the basement by the time they arrived on scene.

No one was inside, and there were no injuries.

Apparently the home and two others next to it are all on Campbell's demolition list and were supposed to be torn down in a few weeks.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Two hours later, another apparent arson was reported about two miles away at the intersection of Bennington and Atkinson on Youngstown's East Side. Flames lit up the night sky from what was another vacant house.

Firefighters brought in the ladder truck to help put it out.
