Former Springfield PTO Treasurer Appears in Court

The former treasurer of the Springfield Local Schools' Parent Teacher Organization pleaded no contest to charges she stole money from the group.

Cheryl Blakeman was arraigned Monday morning in Struthers Municipal court.

Police said she admitted to taking thousands of dollars from the PTO over the course of several years. The exact amount missing is still under investigation, but officials said it could be as much as $20,000.

Blakeman's bond was set at $5,000. She also requested a court-appointed lawyer.
