Under normal circumstances, prisoners like former Congressman Jim Traficant serve the final months of their federal sentences in a half-way house, where they get a job, see their families and get re-acclimated with society after their time behind bars.

You'll recall we told you last month the Federal Bureau of Prisons was going to let Traficant serve the last six months of his racketeering and bribery sentence at the Community Corrections Association -- a local half-way house.

But now we're learning Traficant requested to be sent to a facility in either Akron or Cleveland -- claiming he fears for his safety at CCA, because Executive Director Rick Billak testified against the former Congressman during his trial.

Billak tells us today that if nothing else, Traficant is consistant, saying "He continues to be the Jim Traficant that we know -- in your face."  Billak says the Bureau of Prisons rejected Traficant's request -- meaning now he'll either transfer to CCA, or spend the last months of his sentence behind bars.

At this point, Traficant is still slated to be moved here on March 9th.
