Her murder shocked the community and Wednesday, family, friends and fellow parishioners gathered to pray for Angeline Fimognari.
The 80-year-old woman from the city's south side was known to attend mass everyday, sometimes more than once each day. Parishioners, community members and city leaders filled the pews at St. Dominic's Church to pray for Angeline, a woman who lead a very quiet, private life, but whose murder has brought on a very public plea for her killer to be caught.
Bishop Murray spoke of transforming the community's sorrow into a determination to remain close to God and help others. Pastor Father Gregory Maturi said in the midst of this tragedy there's been a continued and even stronger faith by his parishioners at Saint Dominic's.
"The parishioners here are resolute that this is not going to keep them from coming to church here. They love St. Dominic's. This is their home. Many of them grew up here. Their parents grew up here," said Father Maturi
A group of pastors are praying in the area where Angeline was killed. They said they're praying in hopes of reclaiming the land, as well as praying for the parish and the surrounding area.
Police continue searching for clues. A $10,000 reward is still being offered to anyone who can help solve Angeline's murder. Anyone who might have information is urged to call Crime-stoppers at 746-CLUE.
