The economy is a major topic of discussion these days.

The question everyone seems to want to know is when will it turn around?

Nationally known economic forecaster Dr. Ken Mayland spoke at Tippecanoe Country Club Thursday about when the economy might improve.

He believes the worst is behind us. "This is going down as the worst recession since the Great Depression, but there's a very strong signal that we have the recession behind us and again it will give way to recovery and I think it will be a sustainable recovery."

Mayland says areas like the housing market and economic spending have hit their bottoms and are beginning to recover.
