Campbell's mayor is predicting a deficit for next year's budget, and dire straits down the road if something is not done now.
George Krinos said the city will be $460,000 dollars in the red at the end of 2010. Without changes in spending, Krinos said he believes the city could be out of money in five years.
He said he wants to start now to keep the budget on track: "This is something that I've heard about before and I've been made aware of the situation. But this isn't something I am taking lightly. It is something that I plan to maneuver on as strongly and as quickly as possible."
Mayor Krinos said he blames lower income tax collections and higher maintenance costs for the deficit.
