Two subsidiaries of the Centaur Corporation, which hoped to build a casino and racetrack in Lawrence County, have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Centaur had hoped to operate Valley View Downs and Casino on state Route 422. But its financing fell through last year, therefore no gambling license was ever issued.

Centaur officials say that restructuring its debt will hasten progress on the Valley View property.
