In a settlement with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, Stonebridge Land Corporation will have to pay up.
The company will shell out nearly $16,000 for violating the state's water pollution control laws and rules at its 210-acre residential development in Canfield, according to a press release from the Ohio EPA.
According to the EPA, inspectors between 2006 and 2008 documented a series of violations at Stonebridge's development, which is located north of Herbert Road and east of Sawmill Road.
Inspectors found that the company had installed sanitary sewers and culverts before receiving the proper permits. They also found some areas did not have the proper controls to prevent storm water runoff from impacting wetlands and streams.
Stonebridge later corrected the violations, according to the release.
The penalty case will go toward the Ohio EPA's water pollution control efforts, environmental education programs and clean diesel school bus program.
