Campbell Coach Faces Charges for Football Player Assault

Newton Falls police charged a Campbell football coach with assault.

Michael Mascola, 28, was charged after allegedly hitting an 8th grade Newton Falls player during a game on Oct. 22. Mascola is a volunteer assistant for Campbell's 8th grade team. The alleged incident happened after a scuffle broke out on the Campbell sideline between players. Police believe Mascola then assaulted the Newton Falls player.

He is due in court Nov. 16.

first of all, they are opponents not rivals and he did just break it up. that kid should have been thrown out of the game for such a late hit. i was there. poor coaching, poor officiating, and poor player behavior. he was simply trying to prevent more fighting. he definitely is NOT an idiot
