The local economy has reaped the benefits of federal stimulus money.

Funds have covered the cost of repaving Interstate 680 and South Avenue, helped purchase buses for WRTA and helped lure a new call center to Youngstown that's creating 500 jobs. The money has also covered the cost of land improvements for the V&M property in Girard.

Overall, state officials' preliminary data shows the economic stimulus plan has helped lead to more than 13,000 Ohio jobs being either saved or created.
