From the promise of hundreds of new jobs to the possibility of thousands more.
Lawrence County Commissioner Dan Vogel was in Harrisburg Tuesday morning for the regular monthly meeting of Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.
The Board is still considering a gaming license proposal that would allow Centaur Gaming to build Valley View Downs race track and casino just across the state line on route 422 in Mahoning Township.
The process has stalled while Centaur tries to come up with the money it needs to go ahead with construction.
And Commissioners want the state's gaming officials to know they're still on board, when the pot's right.
"Our purpose in being there is to show the flag of Lawrence County before the gaming control board. To show that we are still interested, we're still active, we're still hot in pursuit of this facility and that Lawrence County is a great place to locate it," says Steve Craig, Chairman of Lawrence County Commissioners.
The Gaming Commission says it won't grant a license to Centaur, until they've secured the more than four hundred fifty million dollars it needs to move forward with the project.
Craig is confident new investors will step forward as the financial markets settle, and says they hope to get some good news, or even a green light, just in time for the holidays.
