Two people were killed when two cars collided along State Route 164, not far from Pine Lake Road.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says Larry Blackman of Leetonia was killed after he drove his car across the center line and collided with another car coming in the opposite direction.

Also pronounced dead at the scene was 79 year old Charles Montgomery of Struthers.  He was one of three passengers injured in the crash.

The driver of that car, Michael Montgomery of Poland was evacuated by helicopter to Saint Elizabeth's Medical Center in Youngstown.

Sergeant Nakia Hendrix, of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, explains how the accident happened, "Our preliminary investigation reveals that the one vehicle was traveling southbound on 164, the other vehicle was traveling northbound.  One of the vehicles traveled left of center.  As a result of the crash, one person was killed in each of the vehicles."

At this point, there is no evidence that alcohol played a part in the tragedy.
