Officials with a proposed coal-to-liquid fuel project say they are still working to obtain the financing they'll need to get the project off the ground.

Baard Energy wants to build a plant along the Ohio River near Wellsville.

Monday, members of the Columbiana County Port Authority heard from Baard executives concerning their search for private equity capital. The company says it still hopes to have the funding in place by next spring so work on the site could get underway.

Executives say the plant could be operational in early 2013.
