A group of graduates in New Castle is promising to help make life a bit safer for area residents.
That's the goal of a group of Guardian Angels that just completed training at Tae Kwondo America Plus. Six new candidates were awarded training certificates today. The group focuses on conflict resolution, helps to deter crime and clean up graffiti. The new chapter in New Castle will also help to teach residents about Cyber safety and self defense. Guardian Angels founder, Curtis Sliwa attended
Sunday's graduation.
"Having guardian angels out there is the second line of defense for the police. Highly visible red barret, red satin jackets, it's a paramilitary organization. We don't have any special powers or privileges, but our mere presence it going to prevent crime, and if a crime is being committed we are going to make citizens arrest," Sliwa said.
The rolling neighborhood watch group is one of 142 chapters nationwide.
