A local church is hoping to grow a solution to the hunger problem in the Mahoning Valley.

The Common Ground Church Community in North Lima said locally-based gardens and crops could be the answer. They said if everyone planted only a few crops throughout the year, we'd have a lot more food to go around.

"By decentralizing the food production to individual homes or communities or congregations, many more people could produce food in a seasonal way that's fresh and local," said Greg Bowman, agricultural speaker. "It also creates entrepreneurial opportunities, as well."

There are already fruits, vegetables and flowers growing at their church on South Range Road.
