A count of absentee ballots in Mercer County has resulted in a tie for a seat on the Hermitage Board of Commissioners.

Election Day totals resulted in Rita Ferringer coming out on top with 1,524 votes, and Rhonda Paglia was second with 1,488. William Finzel was third with 1,484.

After 495 absentee votes were totaled, Tim Ruffo and Finzel were tied for a third seat on the board with 1,539 votes each.

As required by state election law, the county must now schedule a casting of lots to break the tie at noon Nov. 20 at the Mercer County Courthouse. The terms of Ferringer and Paglia will be four years, while the seat Ruffo and Finzel seek is two.

The results of no other Mercer County races changed after the count.
