There was a used car sale in Hubbard Saturday with prices that sounded almost too good to be true.
With a crowd that big at a used car lot, there had to be a huge sale going on to cause people to want to stand around with hundreds of others for hours. It was, in fact, a great sale going on at Greenwoods Hubbard Chevrolet, with used cars starting at only $5.
Denny Denoi, General Manager of Greenwoods Hubbard Chevrolet said, "It's just something that we wanted to do instead of taking some of these older cars to the auction we decided we would just sell them to the people of the Valley."
The catch with this $5 car sale is that there were only 3 cars for $5, and those 3 lucky people's names were actually pulled from a box.
William Dallas from Youngstown, who says he arrived at the dealership at around midnight last night, was one of the 3 lucky people. He drove away with a 1999 Plymouth Voyager for only $5.
"It was actually a blessing," said Helen Kashmer who was looking for a used car. "I'm gonna grab the car, and I'm gonna give it to somebody else just to bless them."
Even after all of the $5 vehicles had been purchased, people still stuck around to check out some of the other good deals on the car lot, which ranged in price from $400 and up.
Jorge Rudes from Hubbard was hoping for one of the $5 cars. "I'm a little disappointed, but I still would like to look around to see if I could find a good deal."
Denoi said the sale was a success, and that most of the customers left the dealership happy, even though they didn't get to drive away with a car for $5. "There's some people who walked away with some great deals and some people who needed some cars that got some good transportation, and for the most part, I think 95-percent of the people are thrilled today."
