Should the 12-year-old boy accused of a brutal double murder in Lawrence County be tried as an adult? That's what a judge will be deciding today. (Friday)
Jordan Brown is scheduled to appear in Lawrence County Court this morning. He's accused of shooting and killing his father's fiancee, Kenzie Houk, while she slept inside the family's Wampum home. Brown faces a second murder charge because Houk was pregnant at the time of the February 2009 killing.
Prosecutors, who have said jealousy may have been a motive for the shooting, want to try Brown as an adult. If Lawrence County Judge Dominick Motto determines Brown can be tried as an adult, he'll face up to life in prison if convicted. If he's tried as a juvenile, the longest he could be incarcerated or on probation is until he turns 21.
