The suspect in a brutal, double murder has been moved for the third time in less than 2 weeks.
Eleven year old Jordan Brown is now being housed at a juvenile facility in Erie. The move was made primarily over money. Last week, he was moved from the Lawrence County Jail to the Allencrest juvenile detention center in Beaver County. However, it would have cost nearly $4500 a week to keep him there. The Erie facility costs Lawrence County a little under $1700 weekly.
Here's a break down of the costs...
It usually costs $1400 a week to house a juvenile in another county. Most of the high cost was due to 24-hour security by Beaver County Sheriff deputies. The Erie facility is expected to cost Lawrence County $1,680 per week, or $240 per day. That's a fraction of the original cost, and it's possible Lawrence County could receive up to a 60% reimbursement by the state.
Brown's attorney says the Erie facility also allows for more frequent and longer visitation.
As for Brown, his bail hearing has been postponed. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for the end of this month.
Brown is accused of killing 26 year old Kenzie Houk and her unborn son late last month inside their Wampum home. Police say he shot her in the back of the head as she slept.
