More than $1-million in federal funds are filtering down to the Mahoning Valley.

The funds are rolled into the 2011 Transportation Appropriations Bill, which was approved by three House subcommittees Friday.

The Bill includes $700,000 for the Youngstown Business Incubator to expand its downtown technology campus. They'll use the money to renovate an 8,000 square foot building that connects to the original Incubator and bring it up to LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) green building standards.

"If you don't spend money you can't make money, and this is an investment into something that has yielded us already 300 jobs at $58,000 a year. Those are the high-wage jobs that are bringing our kids back here from Columbus and other areas across the country," said Rep. Tim Ryan (D) 17th Congressional District.

The bill also includes $500,000 to enhance criminal information systems in the Mahoning and Trumbull County Sheriff's Offices, and funds to expand low-income, at-risk youth programs at the Youngstown YWCA and Juvenile Justice Center.
