Thiel College men’s basketball standout Blair Rozenblad (Youngstown, Ohio/Kennedy Catholic) has been named the Division III Great Lakes Region Rookie of the Year, D3hoops.com announced on Tuesday afternoon. He also nabbed all-region honors with a spot on the third team.
Rozenblad ranked among the best players in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference, statistically, last season, having led the league in scoring, averaging 21.8 points per game and ranking third in rebounding with 7.7 boards per contest. He also ranked in the top ten in the PAC in field goal percentage (.500), steals (1.68 spg) and minutes played (30.88 mins/gm).
The 6-4 guard led Thiel in scoring 16 times over the course of the 2009-10 season and closed out his rookie campaign with nine double-doubles.
Thiel finished its season 14-11 – the program’s best campaign since going 16-12 in 2002-03.
D3hoops.com honorees are nominated and voted upon by the sports information directors at the various schools. There were a record-676 players nominated nationwide this season.
