As the USA Today "Defensive Player of the Year" in high school, to an All-American at Ohio State, to his latest honor of being named AFC Special Teams Player of Month in November with the Miami Dolphins, Ted Ginn, Jr. has certainly left his mark through the football ranks.

"You play football," Ginn tells My Valley Sports.  "I just go out everyday and try to do my best.  If you practice hard, the games should be easy."

Ginn paid a visit to the Mahoning Valley on Monday night with a number of his fellow 49ers teammates and team personel.  They were at Leo's Ristorante for the Edward J. DeBartolo Memorial Scholarship Foundation's annual fundraiser.

Ginn was traded to the San Francisco 49ers during the offseason after three seasons with the Dolphins, during which he racked up over 3,600 return yards and 10 total touchdowns.

"Getting Ted Ginn was really the first step that we needed to take in terms of helping us on special teams," says Niners head coach Mike Singletary. "We didn't just bring him here for special teams or be a punt returner or kickoff return guy.  We want him to be an intregal part of what we're doing as a football team.  And I think Ted Ginn can play a huge part in that."

And though he's moved over 2,300 miles away to the West Coast, he hasn't forgotten about his beloved Buckeyes.

"It's always good to be able to come home and breathe Ohio air.  It's still my country, still my nation, Buckeye Nation.  Now it's San Francisco Nation."
