The Eagles are moving on thanks to Matt Shelton and a shutout by the defense in the second half.

Shelton threw for two touchdowns in the first half, and ran for two more scores after halftime in a 31-14 victory over visiting Medina Buckeye on Friday night.

The Eagles (10-1) advance to the second round to face Cardinal Mooney (10-0) on Friday, November 13 at a site to be determined.

Shelton found Tommy Jackson for a 19 yard touchdown on the first play of the second quarter to tie the game up at 7.  He then connected with Danny Duvall from 10 yards out for another TD to take a 14-7 lead.

The Bucks struck just before halftime on a tipped ball, caught by Mike Kelly for a 37 yard touchdown, tying the game at 14.

But the Eagles defense stepped up to pitch a shutout in the second half, led by Mike Starr, who recovered two of Hubbards three fumble recoveries on the night.  Duvall also had an interception to seal the win.

Shelton had a pair of short TD runs after halftime, and Mike Lopuchovsky booted a 22 yard field goal to close out the scoring.

Hubbard has now won 10 straight games.
