Mahoning County Prosecutor Paul Gains has had a setback in the criminal case involving Oakhill Renaissance Place.

Lawyers for members of the Cafaro family had gone to the Supreme Court of Ohio looking to have Gains and others on his staff questioned under oath about the Oakhill case. Gains had fought the request, Justices ruled against him this week.

Two members of the Cafaro family, their companies, and a number of current and former Mahoning County officeholders are charged with conspiring with each other to keep the county from buying Oakhill back in 2006. Trial in the case is set for June.
