Family conflict
Conflicts occur in all families, even the ones in which everyone normally gets along pretty well. The key to minimizing conflict between parents and teens is mutual respect, with the teen recognizing that the parents are the ones in charge.
Retinal cancer
Retinal tumors and cysts are rare, and they're usually benign, or non-cancerous. However, when a cancerous one occurs, it can be one of several types: retinoblastoma (ret-ih-no-blas-TOE-muh); retinal pigment epithelial (ep-ih-THEE-lee-ul), or RPE (R-P-E); RPE hypertrophy (high-PER-truh-fee); and von Hippel angioma (an-jee-OH-muh).
Sports injuries
More than 10 million sports injuries occur each year, and most are due to either traumatic injury or overuse of muscles or joints. In many cases, sports injuries can be prevented with proper conditioning and training, wearing appropriate protective gear, and using proper equipment.
Floaters
""Floaters"" are small, solidified particles trapped in the vitreous (VIH-tree-us), which is the clear, jelly-like material that fills the inside of your eye behind the lens.
Dropping out of school
Fifty years ago, a high school diploma served as an entry to a number of promising career paths. Today, technological advances in the workplace have increased the demand for skilled labor to the point that a high school education is just a minimum requirement for entry into the labor force.
