Confusion over the bankruptcy of Forum Health led many to take an unnecessary trip to the Federal Courthouse in downtown Youngstown Tuesday morning.
Close to 100 people showed up because they'd received notices informing them about Forum's bankruptcy hearing. Once they arrived, they found out they didn't have to attend the hearing.
Bankruptcy notices were sent to former and present Forum employees and patients. The purpose of this particular hearing was to establish sales procedures, not address the merits of the sale of Forum to Ardent Health Services.
Representatives for Forum Health stood outside the courthouse to let them know they could go home, including a man who flew in from North Carolina. A prepared statement from Forum Health noted that "ample notice will be provided for future hearings on the merits of the proposed sale."
