As administrators with Forum Health work toward wrapping up the sale of Forum to Community Health Systems, they will also be making a payment to the United States government.
Forum has agreed to repay more than $2.8 million to the Department of Health and Human Services. The amount represents overpaid charges for Medicare at Forum's hospitals in the area between 2003 and 2009.
The repayment was approved Tuesday in Bankruptcy Court prior to the judge approving the sale of Forum's assets to CHS.
