After a week-long battle, Trumbull County Bureau Chief Peggy Sinkovich was crowned mayor of Daybreak Nation Monday morning.

Nearly 2,000 people voted in the election, which pitted Sinkovich against Daybreak anchor Len Rome, live reporter Greta Mittereder and Mooch the camera guy. Daybreak meteorologist Jim Loboy bowed out early in the game to support Rome.

Their campaigns involved political ads, attacks and even the establishment of a new political action committee -- Coalition for a Fun Daybreak.

Sinkovich, whose safety-service director will be videographer Nick Rich, got 41 percent of the vote, and Rome followed close behind with 34 percent.

Sinkovich's first orders of business were to direct Rome and Loboy to clean up after the crowning festivities and to approve the purchase of a new soft chair for Mooch.
